The Secret To Abundance
I hope that you feel overflowing with abundance. I hope you feel like you have toomuch to be grateful for. But what if you don’t? What if you don’t feel abundant? Have you ever been the one at the Thanksgiving dinner table who is stumped for what to say when everyone goes around sharing what they are thankful for?
Feeling abundant is a sort of catch 22. Those who are abundant feel grateful, while at the same time gratitude brings more abundance. So how do you enter this cycle?
First understand the mistakes that people make when the topic of abundance comes up:
“If I only had _____ I could feel grateful.” Well the fact of the matter is, you are going to be you (and feel the way you do) whether you have a thousand dollars or a million. Having more may make you feel fulfilled temporarily, but it will not make you feel more abundant in the long run. It will make you feel the same. Because even though there is more money there, you are still the same person with the same mindset. (Especially when it comes to money because as soon as you get that amount of money you have in mind and spend it on whatever it is you think it will get you, you are going to be wanting that money again.)
“What about those rich billionaire guys who are just lucky? They don’t seem very grateful at all.” How many of those rich business guys do you know? Do you know how they really feel or are you stuck on some ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ stereotype? At the same time, there are people out there who do fit the stereotype. But if you’ve seen the movie Wolf of Wall Street, it’s a great example of having everything in the world, not being grateful, AND not feeling abundant and fulfilled. Money does not equal abundance.
This leads to my point that abundance is not how much you have, it’s seeing the true value of everything you have and how grateful you feel.
So to feel more abundant, start taking note of what you are grateful for. At the very least you have air to breathe. The one thing that we are most reliant on for our basic survival is available for free and in a virtually infinite supply. Start there if you’re stumped.
The more you practice observing what you are grateful for, the more abundant you will feel. (And the more abundance will come your way.) Where you put your attention is where your energy will flow. It’s like a farmer tending his crop; if he is focused on it, it will flourish, but if the crop is neglected it will wither. If you are focused on what you lack, then you are going to continue to feel lack. But if you can focus on what you do have, what abundance already exists in your life, you will continue to create and cultivate abundance in your life.
